Inspired by Morrab Gardens

Throughout the ages artists have drawn inspiration from the natural world, and at Morrab Gardens we are pleased to welcome artists who capture the fascinating beauty of plants in their work. So we are delighted that local artist Claire Lucas is running an extra series of Botanical Art Classes this year, starting in February.

Drawings and paintings by students on Claire Lucas's Botanical Art Classes at Morrab Library

Claire started her Botanical Art classes in Morrab Library in 2018 using the abundance of plants in the surrounding gardens as subjects for her students to work with. These are just a few of the pieces produced by participants in Claire’s classes over the past 18 months.

Here are details of the classes for 2020

Using the wonderful plants of Morrab Gardens and the Botanical book collection held at Morrab Library as inspiration, these ongoing classes offer you the opportunity to celebrate the beauty of plants in all stages of their life cycles through the medium of drawing and painting .
The Tuesday class has been running for over a year now, and has a couple of places available in 2020, and a new class will be starting on Thursdays for beginners and improvers.
On both classes we will produce sketches and more finished pieces using a variety of media & explore what plants mean to us personally, and how we can develop our own unique artistic identity through drawing and painting them.

Fortnightly Thursday afternoons 1-3.30pm starting February 27th £15.00 per session if booking for 10 or more classes (can be paid in instalments) £17.50 if coming monthly, and £20 to drop in occasionally

All levels of experience welcome!
Contact Claire on 07532174802 or email her at for more information or to book your place.
