Images of Morrab

Local photographer Andy Reid recently sent us some more of his photos, capturing the intricate detail of flowers and plant structures that he finds in the Gardens. Andy has done a lot of work in the Morrab Gardens, using the form and colour of flowers and foliage to create his stunning images. Andy says, “my discovering Morrab has been a real treat. The well manicured gardens and diversity of plants and flowers appeals to my being drawn to colours, patterns, shapes and textures. Macro photography has become the core interest for my photography and I’m spoilt for choice in Morrab.”

Andy has captured images of a young monkey puzzle tree (Aaraucaria araucana) in close-up showing its beautiful symmetric form, a stunning blue Cosmos and a rear view of a Cosmos bipinnatus flowerhead showing its almost translucent quality, togther with a Cosmos bipinnatus plant growing in the grass.

Further images show a glorious yellow Helianthus sunflower in bloom, a Crimson Flag lily (Hesperantha coccinea) also known as a Scarlet River lily, a cluster of foreget-me-not flowerheads (Myosotis), and a purple Osteospermum flower in full bloom.

Everyone will have their favourites but the two close-ups of Hellebore flowers in bloom , one purple and one white, highlight the delicacy of the flowerhead which belies the hardiness they need to flower in late Winter and early Spring.

We hope you enjoy seeing Andy’s images of Morrab as much as we do
