Visitor information – frequently asked questions
What is Morrab Gardens known for?
Many exotic species are grown for which the Gardens’ position is suitable. For anyone with a love of plants, particularly those of a sub-tropical nature, the Gardens are a delight. There is also a wealth of flora and fauna, creating a green oasis in Penzance town centre.
When are the gardens open?
The gardens are open dawn to dusk every day. The Gardens may close if the weather poses a health and safety risk.
No. The Gardens are public gardens free to enter.
Is there parking near the Gardens?
Can I bring my dog into the Gardens?
Yes we welcome dogs on short leads. Please do not let your dog off its lead or roam further on an extendable lead. For more information see our Walking your dog page.
Can I bring a picnic into the Gardens?
Yes you are welcome to bring food and drink into the Gardens as we have ample seating and lawns, but please no barbeques. Please remember to leave no litter and use the litter bins available or take any leftovers home with you.
Can I feed the birds and squirrels in the Gardens?
Please don’t feed the birds or squirrels. As wild creatures they are able to fend for themselves and feeding them encourages dependency on people using the Gardens. Gulls in particular are extremely intelligent and will quickly learn to take food from visitors even when it isn’t offered. The gulls are then blamed for their behaviour but they’re only doing what we have taught them, so you aren’t being kind feeding them. Enjoy your food and drink but keep it to yourself.
Are there toilets in the Gardens?
No. There no public toilets in the Gardens. Penzance Council run a Community Toilet Scheme whereby local bsuinesses offer their facilities to the public. Nearby toilets can be found using the Penzance Community Scheme webpage.
Is there a cafe in the Gardens?
No but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants a short distance away in the town centre which offer a variety of food and drink choices.
