Help us to care for the Gardens when walking your dog
Owners with well-behaved dogs are always welcome in Morrab Gardens but please help us to keep Morrab Gardens dog-friendly in the future by always following the Gardens’ regulations when walking your dog. Please put your dog on a short lead before entering the Gardens and bring plenty of dog bags to pick up any waste.
Although most of our visitors with dogs follow our short lead policy and pick up after their four-legged friends, there are still, unfortunately, occasions when dogs are let off leads or roam further on an extendable lead; actions which are both anti-social and a health and safety issue.
Follow our guidelines
Following our guidelines helps make sure dogs are welcomed by all visitors and ensures everyone can enjoy their time in the Gardens.
- Keep them close: Using a short lead helps to keep our lawns and borders free from dog waste which is a health hazard both to our gardeners and garden volunteers when maintaining the Gardens, as well as children who naturally enjoy the freedom the Gardens offer.
- Pick up the poo: Please always clear up after your dog. If you can’t find a bin nearby, take the poo bags home with you.
- Think of others: Remember that not everyone loves dogs, and some people fear them. Also some dogs are over-boistrous and can feel threatening to other dogs. So please make sure your dog doesn’t run up to other people, especially children.
Nearby places to walk your dog
Penlee Park, The Promenade and, of course, the local beaches provide plenty of other opportunities for some great walks right on our doorstep. Keep an eye on signs and notices wherever you’re walking your dog. They’ll tell you if a beach has a dog ban, for instance, or if it’s an area where dogs can run off-lead.
